5 Ukrainian Agro Industry News

Jun 19, 2017
In 2016 Ukraine’s import of agricultural machinery has witnessed a considerable increase, with foreign companies establishing dealerships in the country, and national manufacturers themselves presenting their combines at numerous exhibitions.

Import of agricultural machinery has grown substantially in Ukraine

Lost positions, after the 40% and 30% decrease in 2014 and 2015 respectively, were completely regained in 2016 due to a 70% reconstruction.

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, during the first half of 2016, the farmers have purchased 4.9 thousand units of equipment for 4.5 billion UAH total, which is 35% more comparing to the same period of 2015. More than half of this amount was spent by the agricultural manufacturers on tractors and combines (over 2.4 billion UAH). Therefore, in 2016 there were 9995 units purchased for the total amount of 10.4 billion UAH.

In January 2017 the growth of the market continued - agrarians purchased 341 units of equipment for about 320.5 million USD worth. In total, during 4 months of 2017, 3218 units of machinery were bought by agrarians for an amount of nearly 3.4 billion UAH.

According to Taras Vysotsky, general director of the “Ukrainian Agribusiness Club” association, such results were basically brought by a simultaneous combination of several factors, namely: postponed demand, high profits during the three previous years, and deterioration of existing equipment. Due to political and economic uncertainty, in 2014 and 2015, farmers were in no hurry to invest in technology, but the interior situation’s stabilization has triggered the update and redeployment of their parks. According to Mr. Vysotsky, a state support program for 2017 could bring a twofold increase in sales, providing for the allocation of 550 million UAH for the purchase of equipment. As a result, the farmers would be refunded for 20% of the cost of the purchased agricultural machinery of Ukrainian production.

Another fact supporting the maintenance of positive growth rate in 2017 proves that the market for agricultural machinery in Ukraine is still far from complete: according to various assessments, the enterprises are provided only for 50-70%, and about 35% are still in poor condition. Additionally, the government intends to develop the national manufacturer support program in 2018, which will also contribute effectively to the market growth.

Provided that all the forecasts are correct, such a technical park renovation will allow Ukrainian agrarians to increase production and export of their products, which will facilitate the further equipment modernization.

Case IH opens a dealer center in Melitopol

On March 23, 2017, the “Agroalliance” Trading House – official dealer of the Case IH technology – opened the 5th Case IH dealership center and showroom in Ukraine.

The opening was a great opportunity for its guests to get acquainted with the manufacturer’s products, presented on the demonstration site. In particular, the Case IH Puma 180 and Magnum 315 CVX tractors were presented during the event. Within the framework of the showroom itself, the emphasis was put on the Farmall 110 JX tractor model, which is the leader of Ukrainian stalwart tractor segment.

According to Pavel Yatsuta, head of sales department at the “Agroalliance” Trading House, the new dealership center will allow the company to be even closer to its clients in Zaporizhzhya region. From now on, they have access to a full range of services offered by Case IH: from the purchase of machinery, spare parts and the call of a mobile service brigade, to their staff training.

As emphasized by Mr. Yatsuta, the ultimate goal of such a dealer network development is to provide Ukrainian enterprises with the opportunity to use advanced technologies in making effective solutions from both the economic and practical perspectives, which will not only enhance the volume of agricultural production, but also take the national agribusiness to a higher level.

The new dealership center is located at: 1/1 Warriors-Internationalists St., Melitopol.

New combine harvester of Ukrainian production will be presented in Kyiv

Skif 280 Superior authorized by the Kherson Machine-Building Plant (KhMBP) will be available on June 7-10 within the framework of the “AGRO-2017” International Agro-Industrial Exhibition.

Among some technical indicators declared by the manufacturer, there is a Sisu Power six-cylinder engine with the capacity of 276 hp, which saves up to 10% of fuel. Its grain harvesting width is 6.3 m. Due to the fact that the fingers of the model’s reel are made of nylon plastic, the grain will not suffer any damage.

KhMBP plans producing 10 combines per month. The state support program of refunding the purchase of agricultural machinery of Ukrainian production will contribute to this as well, providing for 20% of the costs.

The emergence of a new combine model, altogether with the abovementioned state compensation program, will allow for small and medium-sized enterprises to save significantly on the purchase of equipment, and for the Ukrainian producer — to increase its market share.

The new model is available for the price of 3,839,100 UAH.
