The World Bank supported the development of the Ukrainian export
Three years ago Ukraine signed an Association Agreement with EU aimed at facilitation of economic cooperation with European countries. Nevertheless, the Ukrainian share in EU import market remains insignificant. Within next several years the situation should change for better: on 2 April the World’s Bank Board of Directors adopted allocation of 150 million USD loan to Ukrainian SME export enterprises. According to Satu Kahkonen, the World’s Bank Director for Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine, Ukrainians are creative and gifted entrepreneurs able to produce high-end, competitive products. Though, the development of Ukrainian export is compromised by several obstacles, including the absence of reliable financing.
SME will benefit from long-term financing program
Ukreximbank was selected as the implementer of «Access to long-term financing» project. It will provide sub-loans to other banks participating in the project which in its turn will finance SME operating in different sectors ofthe economy. The financial state, as well as the potential for development of the export-oriented business model, will be main for the selection of enterprises.
